It’s so exciting to be able to sing with a beautiful orchestra. We have 14 pieces that we travel with on this tour and then fill it in with every city. I think that really does show up in the music. It is about an ingenue opera singer named Christine, who works at the Paris Opera House. It features music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Charles Hart and Richard Stilgoe, and a book by Stilgoe and Webber. The thing that happens when you get older too is that you are a little big freer and I think this feels like somebody who is at the peak of their abilities, that there’s no holding back from expressing the beauty of this story, the drama of this story, and the depth of these characters. What is The Phantom of the Opera about The Phantom of the Opera is based on the 1910 French novel by Gaston Leroux of the same name. I was going through all the fanfic for this and saw that they all used Eric, so Im assuming that was his name in. Also, in the book when Christine takes off the Phantoms mask while in his lair, he goes kind of crazy, which the movie shows. I agree with Amanda that the sequel will detract from and possibly ruin the effect of the ending of the original show.
I have heard people say that Andrew Lloyd Webber feels that this is really one of his finest scores, that this is one of his favorites. I havent read the book (yet), or seen the live version (yet), so this is completely based on the movie. Everybody around him has to try to fit into what those plans that he is creating are. He’s still manipulating the situation to get what he wants. Its still about the Phantom and his love for Christine.
